Developing a new Web application for one set of stakeholders can be challenging enough - try including requirements from four separate higher education institutions. The Indiana Database of University Research Expertise (INDURE) serves as a Netflix for research. The application enables users to conveniently identify and locate expertise, intellectual property, and sponsored research across the state.

This session will discuss lessons learned while working on a multi-institutional project. Discussion points include collaborative design, federated authentication, data integration, and INDURE's one-of-a-kind search and information retrieval technology that takes manual updating of data out of the equation. Both technical and practical issues will be explored, in addition to the role of university politics and taking input from "faux" stakeholders.
