Learn about UW-Milwaukee's experiences, current state, and future plans in designing and supporting an enterprise Web server environment for distributed development and maintenance of websites and Web applications for campus schools/colleges, divisions, centers and student organizations.

Topics covered include workflow and deployment with development, testing/quality assurance, and production Web servers/database servers, localhost-based development with source version control, application server clustering, web content management, automated system monitoring/notification, risks and rewards of virtualization, and continuity of operations planning.

Mark Jacobson
Web Development Manager, UW-Milwaukee

Mark is the manager of Web development for University Information Technology Services at UW-Milwaukee. His current responsibilities include Web server environment and Web content management architecture, client relations, project coordination/consultation, coordination/assistance for UWM Web Architect, prioritization/scheduling, staff professional development, mentoring, and general supervisory duties. Previous experience includes systems integration, database administration and development, Web application development, system administration, and graphic design.

Mat Houser
Web Server Administrator, UW-Milwaukee

Mat is a system administrator in applications support for University Information Technology Services at UW-Milwaukee. His current responsibilities include Web server environment and Web content management architecture, implementations, upgrades and support. Previous experience includes systems integration, database development and Web application development.
